Warriors confident Klay Thompson will break out of slump soon

Klay Thompson is in the midst of one of the worst shooting slumps of his career, but the Golden State Warriors remain convinced the All-Star swingman will break out of it soon.

Thompson set an NBA record by knocking down 14 3-pointers in scoring 52 points in an Oct. 29 victory over the Chicago Bulls, but aside from that game, the sharpshooting swingman has struggled to find his rhythm this season. He was just 2-for-7 from the field in Tuesday night’s 127-101 loss to the Los Angeles Lakers and came into the game shooting just 33.7 percent from beyond the 3-point arc.nike nfl jerseys for cheap

“I think it will turn around. I know it will turn around,” Warriors coach Steve Kerr said. “This game is funny, life’s funny. Things go on, things happen. And you just have to find your way out of the woods. Our job as a staff is to help our team do that when we’re in a rut, and it’s to help individual players as well. As I said, I have no doubt that Klay will find his way, but he’s in a rut right now. I think that’s obvious. But it’ll get better.”4

The reality for Thompson is that things haven’t gotten much better all season. The eighth-year veteran came into the game shooting just 44.1 percent from the field, several percentage points lower than at any point in the past four seasons. The big key is that Thompson is missing open looks. He came into the game shooting just 39 percent on uncontested looks from 3-point range, compared to 52 percent on uncontested looks from the same distance last season.
